Competent, empathetic leaders who can focus on people and results without discounting one for the other is precisely what this crisis needs. Ironically, it is also what we are lacking the most today. In retrospect, we are the architects of our own suffering—for it was us who elected into office those who today are the epitomes of incompetence, and for whom the interests of a select few outweigh that of a great many.
